Here in the northern hemisphere, days are lengthening and warming up. Time to stand at the water’s edge and wiggle your toes in the sand. A frisson of concern washes over you…am I beach ready? Oh yes, sister crone, you are absolutely ready.
When I say “beach ready,” I’m not talking about crash diets or grueling workouts that bombard you in the media. I’m talking about the inner glow that radiates when you embrace who you are, every wrinkle, every gray hair, and every life experience that has shaped you into the incredible woman you are today. Let’s dive into those waters of aging in power and get beach ready in every sense of the term.
Imagine the beach as a metaphor for life. As youngsters we stuck to the shore, filled with the excitement of finding treasures brought to us by the tides. (Raise your hand if you, like me, still come back from the shore with pockets stuffed with treasures.) Throughout the intervening years, we built the courage to wade out a little further as time passed. Each challenge was a wave, and with each wave, we became stronger. This strength is not just physical, but emotional and mental. The wisdom cultivated in this process allows us now to navigate the tides of life with grace, confidence, and resilience.
Confidence is like the sun, shining brightly and warming everything it touches. As we age, we have the ability to curate our lives and our experiences through the lens of that confidence. This process can illuminate our third chapter paths, celebrating our uniqueness and beauty.
Getting beach ready is about identifying your confidence, basking in it, and letting it shine on all those around you. Whether you’re rocking a bikini, a one-piece, or a fabulous cover-up, it’s your confidence that buoys you and also makes people take notice. It’s the knowledge that you are beautiful, powerful, and wise, just as you are.
As we step into our third chapter, we have the opportunity to embrace our croning and embody the wisdom, strength, and confidence that come with our age. We are the queens of our own lives, ruling with grace, wisdom, and—oh yes!—a touch of sass. Getting beach ready is about celebrating this incredible journey and embracing the powerful women we have become.
