Blog #35 There’s No Quest Without Questions

Writer: Jennifer ButzJennifer Butz

Do you find yourself swimming in questions that quicken your pulse—and not in a good way? Ok, sit down for a second, take a deep breath, and let’s think about this.

In school, we’re taught to know the answers. The right answers. We are drilled to “know facts”, to prep for tests that measure memory and conformity. But here’s the twist: life doesn’t hand us a neatly defined test with multiple-choice answers and a passing grade. It hands us uncertainty to navigate with grace and grit. And that quest requires questions—the kind that spark curiosity, rattle certainty, and help us grow.

The truth is, if the answers you learned in school don’t serve your reality or your future (and really, did they ever?). Questions invite us to look deeper, to find meaning, and to live fully in ways that no rote answers ever could. Questions are the seed of innovation, of connection, of understanding. Want to know how you can keep that spark alive in your own life? Start asking better questions.

Sure, questions can be unsettling. They poke us, they spin us around, and require us to consider perspectives we hadn’t. In truth, questions are our guides. Without them, we’d just be wandering in circles, clutching to old answers that don’t fit anymore. The irony? It’s often in the discomfort that we find new paths and greater clarity.

As we age, we realize that few answers are set in stone. We’ve tried on identities, we’ve carved out careers, relationships, and goals, and then watched as the unexpected barged through it all.  Remember, to age is to evolve, and evolution is sparked by inquiry, not by conclusions.

Imagine, instead of asking, “Why did this happen to me?” we ask, “What is this here to teach me?” Questions like these unlock new ways of seeing ourselves and open us up to resilience, joy, and strength we didn’t know we had.

Asking questions—big, unsettling ones—helps us shift from clinging to the past to embracing possibility. Questions are like a compass. They point us toward what matters: “What am I here to learn?” “How can I serve?” “What really makes me come alive?”

Grab your favorite mug, take a deep breath, and let’s celebrate the beauty of asking—of staying open, resilient, and endlessly curious. Life may not give us a final answer key, but it gifts us questions, each one leading us a little closer to the truest version of ourselves.

So, what’s your next question? Let it be big, bold, and maybe even a little outrageous. Let it expand your world. Stay curious, embrace uncertainty, and invite questions to illuminate your quest.

WonderCrone’s methods to curate our lives and navigate our third chapter, Where Wisdom Meets Wonder, offer structured questions for our next quest—aging. The workbook is now available on Amazon.  Join us in this quest at WonderCrone.com, and together, let’s keep asking.
